Preparation
In the preparatory phase, we opted for a broad participatory process involving artists, numerous organizations, civil society, entrepreneurs, educational institutions, and more. This included
- 30 future thinkers
- an 8-member artistic team
- a design and advisory group for learning principles
- and the writers of the bid book were involved, among others.
We deliberately chose a team that changes regularly. The Ghent2030-team leading the effort is a mix of people who work both for the city of Ghent and in the cultural sector.
By continuously passing the baton, we increase involvement and give more voices a platform.
Ghent2030 Non-Profit Organization
Since 2022, Ghent2030 has been managed by a non-profit organization (vzw) overseeing the candidacy preparation. Members of vzw Ghent2030 include:
- The City of Ghent
- Ghent Arts Platform
- Ghent University
- North Sea Port
- The socio-economic network Community Ghent
Artistic and business team
In further preparations - and especially when Ghent secures the title - the organization behind Ghent2030 will be expanded to include a larger artistic and business team. Open calls and job vacancies will be published for certain positions. Keep an eye on the Ghent2030 channels.
Regional involvement
We will also work intensively with partners outside of Ghent. Our priority is to involve partners from the region around Ghent and from the Dutch province of Zeeland.
International
And, of course, we will also actively pursue international collaborations with cultural creators and organizations from Europe and beyond. The first contacts have already been made for this.
